Hearing Coverage (New in 2026!)

We’re here for every sound

CHPW’s Individual & Family Plans help you pay for hearing instruments and exams, with services to help you tune into your best health.

How it works

With this benefit, you get one hearing exam per year, and one hearing aid per ear with hearing loss every three years. Cost-shares may apply.

Fitting, custom molds, and training.

How to find hearing providers

Start by talking with your primary care doctor to find out what type of hearing provider you need.

It may be an Audiologist (diagnosis and treatment), Hearing Instrument Specialist (tests and fittings), or an Otolaryngologist (cochlear implants*)

Hearing Exams


One hearing exam per year is covered from an in-network provider. A per-visit copay may apply.

Hearing instruments


Different types of hearing instruments are covered, in addition to device setup and support. Coinsurance may apply.

Types of hearing instruments:

  • Hearing aids (One per ear, per three years)
  • Bone conduction hearing devices
  • Cochlear implants*

*Cochlear Implants are covered under Rehabilitation Services for adults and children. Check your Evidence of Coverage and Summary of Benefits for full details.

Device setup and support


Services to help you get started with your hearing device and make sure it fits and works well, including:

  • Initial assessment, fitting, adjustment
  • Ear molds as needed for best fit
  • Auditory training (help to adjust to improved hearing)

These services are covered if you’re planning to get a hearing instrument, or if you already have one, including an over-the-counter hearing instrument.
