CHPW MemberFirst™: Get rewarded for looking after your health

At CHPW, your health always comes first. When you take steps to stay healthy, we think you deserve a reward!

We’re excited to introduce CHPW MemberFirst™ Rewards, a new program where you can earn gift cards by completing important preventive cancer screenings.

What can you earn?

  • $25 for a colorectal cancer screening (at-home stool test or colonoscopy)
  • $50 for a breast cancer screening (mammogram)
  • $50 for a cervical cancer screening (Pap test or HPV test)

Why these screenings matter
Cancer screenings can help catch problems early, before you feel sick and when treatment works best. And they’re included in your preventive care benefits. No cost to you!

How to claim your reward
After completing your screening, just fill out our online form to get your reward. Choose gift cards from Amazon, Safeway/Albertsons, or Target.

Get all the details on our MemberFirst™ Rewards webpage.

Not sure what screenings you need?
Talk to your doctor. They will help you decide based on your age, health, and family history.

Getting screened is one of the most powerful ways to protect your health. Do it for yourself, and for the people who care about you.

Why colorectal cancer screening matters

We get it—talking about cancer isn’t easy. And with so much information out there, it can be hard to figure out what’s true and what’s not.

That’s why we’re launching a series of blog articles breaking down the basics of the three important cancer screenings mentioned above.

We’ll start off with colorectal cancer.

Did you know it’s the second leading cause of cancer-related deaths in the U.S.? The good news is it’s also one of the most preventable, and screening for it might be easier than you think.

Catching colorectal cancer early—before symptoms start—can make treatment simpler and far more effective.

The bottom line: Screening saves lives. It’s quick, it’s covered by your CHPW plan, and it could make all the difference.

Summer’s here: Tips to stay safe and healthy while enjoying the sunshine

Sunshine, backyard barbecues, and beaches—summer is made for fun! But while you’re soaking it all in, don’t forget to protect yourself.

Here are some quick reminders about how to play it safe while having fun in the sun:

Sunburn

Ouch! Too much sun can leave your skin red, sore, and hot to the touch. In more serious cases, it might peel or blister.

How to prevent it: Sunscreen. Use SPF 30 or higher. Look for ones labeled “Broad Spectrum”—they block more of the sun’s harmful rays. Learn more at: Using Sunscreen to Protect Your Skin

Heat exhaustion and heatstroke

Heat exhaustion happens when your body gets too hot and starts to overheat. You might feel dizzy, tired, sweaty, or nauseous. Heatstroke is more serious—it’s when your body can’t cool down at all. You might stop sweating, feel confused, or even faint. This is a medical emergency!

How to prevent it: Drink lots of water, cover up with lightweight clothing, take breaks in the shade, and apply sunscreen regularly. Learn more: Heat-Related Illnesses

Water safety

Spending time in the water is a great way to cool off, but it can also be dangerous if you’re not careful. Accidents happen quickly. People can slip, get caught in strong currents, or become tired while swimming.

How to prevent it: Use life jackets when boating or in open water. Don’t swim alone. Keep a close eye on children around pools, lakes, or the ocean—even if they know how to swim. See more on water safety: Safe Swimming Tips in Washington

Until next time, enjoy the summer—but stay safe while you do it!
