How to manage your health plan online and calculate costs upfront
If you have been to our online Individual & Family Member Center, you may have noticed there are two places to access information and tools. There is the Member Service Center and the myCHPW Member Portal. Why two separate places with two separate logins? We wish it were only one too! This is how we can best offer data security and protect your private health information (PHI).
We hope this breakdown of where to do what helps you navigate to the right spot for what you need when you need it.
Covered service: No-cost preventive care. What is it and why is it important?
What is it?
Preventive care is when you visit your doctor for a service that helps you detect or prevent medical problems. Yearly checkups, immunizations, and health screenings are all preventive care. Did you know… you pay nothing for preventive care with your CHPW Individual & Family plan?
Why is it important?
Medical problems or serious diseases can get worse over time if you don’t know about them. Preventive care helps you catch them early. It could save you time and money while protecting your health. It’s like checking a roof for leaks. If you catch the leak early, you can repair it before it damages the ceiling or walls.
When is the right time for preventive care or health screenings?
It depends, and you should talk with your doctor who can recommend the right care for you based on your age, gender, health history, and risk factors (such as whether you smoke).
If you want to learn more about health screenings, check out our medically-reviewed blog article, 5 Preventive health screenings you should know about. We provide an overview of five types of health screenings and what they involve along with tips for when and how to get them scheduled. And remember, preventive care is covered by your health plan!
News: Open Enrollment is coming soon!
Open Enrollment is right around the corner. Starting November 1 until January 15, anyone can apply for health insurance and enroll in a plan through the Washington Healthplanfinder™ website for the upcoming year.
We’ll be sending you all the details you’ll need for renewing your plan. If anything has changed for you in the last year, like your income or family size, be sure to update your profile on WA Healthplanfinder by December 15.
If nothing has changed, no need to do anything. To keep your CHPW health plan, no action is needed. Your coverage with CHPW will continue automatically on January 1, 2025.
